  • An Open Letter To The Citizen's Of Nevada, MO

Now we have a highway running through our town.  As I think most towns might anymore.  We however are a very small town.  Rural really.  The speed limit is 30 but I’m sure as everyone knows that most people do not abide by that especially when they’re just passing through and often go 40 or over.  Now that wouldn’t be such a problem if it weren’t for the fact that everyone in this town is a dumb ass.  Yes.  All of you.  Well… all of you with children.  I understand that when you were young you could ride your damn ass bike all over the place.  Things. Have. Changed.  Why in the hell are you letting your kid ride a bike AT NIGHT across a fucking highway?  Why is he allowed to ride across the highway at ALL!?  I see this ALL the time!  I can’t tell you how maddened I am by it!  Its not the childrens fault since they’re often too young to know better.  I’ve seen children who couldn’t be more than 6 playing by the highway on a bike with no one else in sight.  WONDERFUL way to get kidnapped.  God I hate this town.

  • The Fault In Our Stars

The most horrifying part of The Fault In Our Stars isn’t how it ended.  When you begin reading it you know how its going to end.  You aren’t sure who but you have a good idea and no matter which it is its one of them.  You don’t know when but it will happen.

The most horrifying and tragic part of The Fault In Our Stars comes after the book is finished.  In the acknowledgements.  These lines are tragic.

“For example, there is no such thing as Phalanxifor.  I made it up, because I would like for it to exist.”

    And as equally tragic.

“who shared their time and expertise with me on medical matters, which I cheerfully ignored when it suited my whims.”

Here is a man without the means to cure cancer.  Or the means to prolong a life.  But in a book has created something he would like to exist.  Because of what it would mean if it did.  And since he doesn’t have the ability to create it in this world he created it in the characters world.  In Hazel Grace’s world.  Because he wants it to exist and he can’t change that it doesn’t.  Because if you’ve read the book and you know that Phalanxifor does then you know there isn’t anything else like it.  But there should be.  But so far there isn’t.

That just struck me as particularly tragic.

  • Acne: My Absolute Nightmare

At the beginning of 2012 my skin decided to greet me with the worst acne I've ever had in my life.  At the age of 21.  I broke out all over seemingly overnight.  Cheeks, upper lip, chin, forehead, and nose.  And it wasn't just horrible to look it, it was painful.  My whole face was red and painful to touch.  Now I hadn't done anything differently.  Hadn't switched soap, detergent, wash clothes, makeup, brushes, or face product.  Not even shampoo or conditioner was changed.  Two weeks ago after mildly treating it and seeing no improvement I decided to step it up a notch.  I ordered X Out by Proactiv.  Big mistake.  Not only did it not help my acne it actually made it worse.  Now every inch of my face was covered.  I gave it a full week and after nothing but more heart ache I ditched it.

Now in the past I have seen a dermatologist.  Even with my light acne they've never been able to help and I've always went back to something over the counter.  So this time I decided to just skip the expensive visit all together and fight this myself full force.

I have very sensitive skin and I'm always weary of trying anything with 10% benzoyl peroxide but the time for games was over.  I went out and bought Oxy face wash, a Clean and Clear marks kit, and a Clean and Clear spot treatment.  Everything contained 10% benzoyl peroxide.  I started using it as soon as I got home.  Oxy face wash twice a day and the Clean and Clear spot treatment three times a day.  Instant results.  The next day I was 30% of my acne had been blasted away overnight.  One more day of that before I moved over to the Clean and Clear marks kit so my acne wouldn't leave any discoloration on my face as it has in the past.  I will say that the face wash in the kit is much more drying than the Oxy wash and has left me with red dry patches of skin on my chin but as of now I'm about 95% acne free and the red dry patches will clear up in time and can be covered with a tinted moisturizer until that happens.

All in all this has been a nightmare and I hate my skin almost as much as I hate my body but after nearly two months I feel like its finally about to be over!
